Dear Counters,

We sincerely appreciate your willingness to help with this very important activity. In an effort to assure that we have two counters each Sunday, and to help each of you plan your counting commitments for the new year, we have put together the following schedule for 2008.

Please mark your calendars. If you need to make changes in the schedule, please find a counter who will substitute* for you. It is extremely important that there are always two counters -- no one should ever count alone.

We hope that by establishing the schedule well in advance that the "no show" situation will be very rare. However, if your counting partner does not show up you should make every effort to locate a counter that is in the church to fill in. If you cannot find a substitute, contact an usher to lock the offering in the cabinet directly beneath the finance drawer. In this situation, arrangements will be made for two people to count on the following Monday.

We must emphasize that offering should never be with less than two people…ushers or counters. After the offering is collected, if there are no counters, the ushers are instructed to lock it up. If you are the only counter an usher MUST accompany you to the finance office to help count and verify the cash.
